Moser was born in Brozen but received his early education at the Handelsakademie in Dresden. He was not interested in a commercial career however and studied art at the Akademie in Munich and then at the Academie Julian in Paris. In 1907 he returned to Austria. He became famous for his colour woodcuts of subjects such as birds, Breton and South Tyrol peasant scenes
