Spanish, 1898 - 1972Borès was born in Madrid and began his studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts there at the age of 16. He showed painting for the first time in 1922, then in Paris in 1925, the year he went to live there. Influenced by the Spanish masters, Picasso and Juan Gris, Borès' most characteristic works show the influence of Cubism, but reflect his personalized style. He became a most prominent member of the Ecole de Paris. He exhibited world wide and many of his works hang in important public collections (Tate Gallery, London; Musée des Arts Moderne, Paris ; Museum of Modern Art, New York being just a few) |
